The
Purpose
of Miracles
Purpose
of Miracles Miracles
in the Bible always unmistakably involved an immediate and powerful action
of God and always served a purpose. Bible miracles could never be mistaken
for a coincidence. Jesus, the apostles, those the apostles laid hands on,
and Cornelius & his household were the only ones in the New Testament
to work miracles. Consider the purpose of the miracles, who performed
them, and whether we need them today. The purpose of the miracles, signs,
and wonders was to confirm the word and to show that God does not show
partiality (Acts Chapter 10). Both of those reasons have been fulfilled
forever; therefore, miracles are no longer needed for those purposes.

Corinthians 12:12
|
Truly
the signs
of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance,
in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.
|
Acts
8:18
|
...through
the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given...
|
Acts
2:43
|
Then
fear came upon every soul, and many
wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

Mark
16:20
|
And
they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them
[the apostles] and confirming
the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Hebrews
2:2-4
|
For
if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every
transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall
we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first
began to be spoken
by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God
also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various
miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
