Hampton Hager’s work at Gold Hill focuses on our fellowship. Hampton was an active member in two previous congregations, Charlotte Avenue and Lesslie both in Rock Hill, SC.

 

Hampton is a graduate of East Tennessee State University. He and his wife, Christi, have one daughter, Martha. Their second child is due in later summer. Hampton is an outdoorsman, his hobbies include yard work, hunting and fishing.

 

 

 

Area native, Howell C. Hunter, Jr. is the architecture who designed our building. Howell earned his bachelor of arts in pre-architecture from Clemson University and his masters in architecture from Rice University.

 

Much of his efforts today are focused on our building and grounds. Howell and his wife Laura have three kids, Nathaniel, Kimberly and Erin. In his spare time, Howell enjoys photography.

 

 

A talented musician, you’ll often find Jake Hunter leading singing during worship or for other congregational activities. Jake’s work at Gold Hill Road is focused on Worship which includes overseeing and scheduling song leaders and maintaining our audio and video systems.

 

Jake and his wife, Kelly, have three daughters, Ashlyn, Reagan and Camryn. 

 

 

Terry Thomas is our deacon for Benevolence.  Terry attended Freed Hardman University in Henderson Tennessee and his over 12 years experience supporting Benevolent work for several congregations. 

 

Terry and his wife, Dena, are devoted home schooling parents. They have five children, Logan, Raeann, Maddison, Roman, and Corbin.  “Where God leads our family we will follow”.

 

 

Barry VanHamme Jr. is one of our deacons for Worship. A former marine, Barry is actively involved in many facets of church life including leading devotionals and singing, presiding over the Lord’s Table and teaching multiple classes.

 

Barry and his wife, Tracy, have a three-year old son, Caleb. In their spare time, the family loves to spend time outdoors camping together.

 

 

David Williams is responsible for mission work. Previously, David served as a Deacon responsible for building and grounds and bulletin at the Aurora Church of Christ.

 

David has a degree in sports management from Harding University. He and his wife, Tammy, have two kids, Jewelya and Benjamin.

 

In his free time, David enjoys sports and working in the yard. 

 

Gilbert Shelton is focused on local Evangelism. You’ll find him leading many of our efforts to help others in our community. Prior to joining us at Gold Hill Road, Gilbert was a deacon for Education, Youth and Finance at Gastonia Church of Christ.

 

Gilbert earned his MBA from Queen’s University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from NC State. He’s an avid NC State fan whose hobbies include supporting Wolf pack sports, photography and writing.

 

He and his wife, Sue, have three kids, Andrea, Andy and Allison.

 

Mike Collins  is one of our deacons focused on Youth. Mike is heavily involved in many of our youth activities including Vacation Bible School.

 

Mike, his wife Glenda and their sons Justin and Nolan have been members at Gold Hill since it’s first Sunday service in 1996. Previously, the Collins family worshipped at West End Church of Christ in Knoxville, TN where Mike was a deacon for new members and a Bible schoolteacher.

 

Mike attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN where he earned his bachelors degree in both Mathematics and Computer Science.

 

In his spare time, you’ll find Mike outdoors, golfing, skiing, and traveling with his family.

 

 

 

 

Martha “Marty” Manning is our church secretary. A business school graduate and wife of elder, Joe Manning, Marty brings great organization and energy to many of our church activities.

 

Joe and Marty have two grown daughters, Andrea and Tracy, and one grandson. In her free time, Marty enjoys reading, painting, cross-stitching and camping.
