Preaching
“How then
shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they
believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear
without a preacher?” Romans 10:14.
Speaking the
good news of Jesus is at the very foundation of Christian faith.
“So then
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans
10:17 “And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the
gospel to every creature. {16} He who believes and is baptized will be
saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” Mark 16:15-16.
Preaching is meant
to teach and benefit all people from the unlearned to the devoted
disciple. Preaching is a critical to
spreading the Word and sharing the source of eternal life.
“Therefore
lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with
meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls”
James 1:21.
Preaching should
be grounded in the Lord’s word. “All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness, {17} that the man of God
may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” 2 Timothy
3:16-17
The skills of preachers
vary from person to person.
However, there should never be in variance in the content of a
preacher’s message. More
important than the skill of the preacher is the focus and attention of
the listener. Always resolve to be
an active listener and check the source, your Bible, regularly. The destiny
of your soul depends on it.
“Then the
brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they
arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. {11} These were more
fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word
with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether
these things were so” Acts 17:10-11.
